Johor Defeat Pahang

Johor thrashed Pahang in both matches of the National Division One 50 0vers Cricket League at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval.

In the first match on 19th June 2010, Pahang won the toss and elected to bat.  Openers Kairul Azrin Matsiah and Ahmad Adzim started cautiously adding 56 runs in 21 overs when both were out in succesive balls to Vicneswaran.  Apart from a dogged innings of 43 runs by Asif Ali, the rest of the Pahaang batsmen offered token resistance succumbing to the spin of Vicneswaran (3 wkts for 38), Eszrafiq Ab Azis (4 wkts for 30) and Rakesh Mahadevan (2 wkts for 19).  Pahang were 152 runs for 9 wickets in the 50 overs.

Johor's openers Arif Abbasi (36 runs in 42 balls) and Rakesh Mahadevan (52 runs in 56 balls)  had an opening partnership of 79 runs in 10.1 overs when Arif was brilliantly caught by N. Murugan of Asif Ali. Syahadat Ramli (34 not out in 40 balls) and Rakesh carried the score to 124 runs before Rakesh was caught behind.  Eszrafiq (15 not out in 9 balls) and Syahadat then helped pass Pahang's total in 21.4 overs.

Final Scores:

Pahang 152 for 9 wickets in 50 overs.

Johor    153 for 2 wickets in 21.4 overs.

In reply, Johor went for quick runs and in the haste lost Rakesh Mahadevan (16 runs) with the total at 34 runs in 7 overs.  Subsequently, Arif Abbasi (68 not out) and Eszrafiq Ab Azis (37 runs) blazed through the Pahang bowling and finally Johor ended up with 133 runs for 2 wickets in 18.2 overs.
